

Jefferson Davis
Jefferson Davis was born in Christian county Kentucky on June 3. Davis served in the military and became a war hero during the Black Hawk war in 1832.
Once after this war he became the U.S. senate. He argued secession, but he still believed that each state should have their own rights. He thought each state's rights to secede from the union. He resigned from the Senate in 1861. Then he was offered to be the president of the confederate states.
Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln was our 16Th president. He was born on February 12, 1809, in Hardin county Kentucky. His mother died when he was 10 years old. He had 75,000 volunteers when the Confederate batteries fired on the fort Sumter and forced its surrender.
He was apart of the Union. He got nominated for president in 1860. His nicknames were '' Honest Abe" and '' Illinois rail splitter"
